Governor Lee Launches 2018-2022 County Integrated Development Plan

Governor Lee Kinyanjui has called on unity between the County executive and the County Assembly in the successful implementation of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2018-2022.

When launching the document today, the Governor commended the conduct of the County assembly but asked the lawmakers to align their projects with the CIDP.

“I recognize the importance of the County Assembly in the implementation of the CIDP and urge them to initiate projects that are in line with this document,” the Governor said.

He noted that the CIDP would keep the County focused on the issues that are important to Nakuru residents as well as act as a guide used by the County Government, development partners and all stakeholders in the implementation of projects.

The document was guided by the Vision 2030, the National Big 4 agenda as well as the Governor’s manifesto.

The County boss also added the importance of private-public partnership in the pooling of resources that will fund the outlined projects.

“As a County, we take full cognizance of the private sector and their role in the successful implementation of the CIDP. We will engage development partners through our Resource Mobilization department that will soon be set up,” he said.

Currently, the County Government has secured 1.1 billion from World Bank on urban development and is working to be considered in the City Resilience Program.

“Additionally, we will make a deliberate effort to engage with the National Government in seeking resources to fund these projects.”

At the same time, the Governor advised county officials to be keen when making reports that show how money has been used since these reports determine the money allocated to counties.

“All County officials should be keen when compiling reports indicating the use of resources used per department to ensure there are no audit queries that will reduce the allocation to our County,” Governor Kinyanjui said.

When addressing the meeting, Economic Planning Chief Officer Mr. Kennedy Momanyi expressed confidence in the full implementation of the 2nd CIDP citing transitional challenges as the reason the first document was not fully implemented.

“In the first CIDP, the counties were forming and lacked strong structures to fully implement it. We will ride on the lessons that we have learned and ensure this time it will be different,” said Mr. Momanyi.
