County cushions artists against COVID-19 pandemic effects
The County Government of Nakuru has partnered with artists to cushion them against the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mtaani Live Show, an innovative concept by the Department of Culture provides a platform for artists to perform and viewers follow on social media platforms.
Artists are among the hardest hit professionals after the government banned social gatherings as a measure to stop the spread of the virus.
The County Government of Nakuru provides allowances for the artists.
The first edition was held at the Shabaab Social Hall brought together artists from Nakuru Town East and Nakuru Town West sub-Counties.
Other similar shows are lined up across the County in the coming days. Artists are encouraged to register with the department.
Among the artists who performed are DJ Spinel, Kidrucha, Izzy Blacko, Veryl Mkali Wao, Vanessa, Wendy, Simor Music, Mr Chairman, Lucy Empress and Shairi Nyata.
Others are Elvis Russels, Ian Ayugu, Mose, Kevo Dancer and Jeff Gepa.
County Minister for Youth, Gender, Culture, Sports and Social Services Eng. Lucy Kariuki said the COVID-19 pandemic has made artists lose livelihoods thus the need to support them.
She advised artists to be innovative and share out their artistic selves as life has not stopped with the COVID-19 pandemic threat.
Co-sponsors of the event included Ideal Sounds and Events, Simor Music, Aifer Entertainment and Nakuru TV.
