Nakuru County Government has distributed COVID-19 protective gears and sanitizers to 4000 traders in Afraha Annex market.
This is in line with Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s administration to support and give incentives to small-scale businesses, to mitigate the impacts of Covid-19.
Trade, Tourism and Cooperative Chief Officer Hussein Mohammed said the department will leverage on the recently signed Enterprise fund and the Cooperative Revolving Fund Bills to cushion small scale traders from adverse effects of Covid-19 pandemic.
“The cooperative Fund Act and the Enterprise Fund Act will provide affordable loans to SMEs and cooperatives hence facilitating their growth,” Hussein said
Speaking during the donation of Covid-19 protective gears and sanitizers to traders at Afraha annex, Hussein said the county is committed to curbing the spread of Covid-19 among the traders.
The officer said the county has started training traders on how to safely handle food and how to effectively use coronavirus protective gear.
At the event, traders thanked Governor Kinyanjui for his efforts to protect the county residents during these hard times of the pandemic.
