County boosts COVID-19 diagnostics capacity with rapid antigen tests
The County Government of Nakuru has so far done over 3, 000 COVID-19 rapid antigen tests since its introduction in the region 6 weeks ago.
Antigen tests results are less expensive and generally faster, typically within 30 minutes against 3-4 days in other types of tests.
County Medical Laboratory Technology Coordinator, Dr Rose Gachie says this has boosted the County’s COVID-19 diagnostics capacity.
She was speaking during a sensitization forum for 30 Medical Laboratory Technologists from selected private facilities across the County.
The tests are currently being conducted in public health facilities at no cost.
Also present at the forum was the County Epidemiologist, Mr Jacob Rotich and other rapid antigen tests trainers.
