County-USAID Kenya partnership to empower youth, address employment challenges
The County Government of Nakuru is committed to continuing to provide a conducive environment to boost public-private partnerships to train and economically empower youths across the county.
The County has signed a letter of intent with Generation Kenya, an implementing partner of USAID Kenya, under the umbrella of the MOU between USAID Kenya and Nakuru County Government agreed to support the County address youth employment challenges.
Generation Kenya will conduct a demand mapping exercise to identify employers who have vacancies for entry-level roles.
Further, train the youths in public and private Technical and Vocational Training Centers in the county and place the graduates in the already mapped vacancies.
Youth Chief Officer Dr William Migwe said that the partnership will provide the youth with self-employment skills and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Additionally, provide youths with employability skills to fit in the job market, enable meaningful career and sustained well being.
Head of Partnerships, Generation Kenya Corrinne Ngurukie appreciated the partnership with the County Government of Nakuru and was looking forward to ensuring that youth financial independence and competitiveness in the job market is achieved.
