County to enhance access to farm inputs
Written by Mercy Kihugu
The County Government of Nakuru is committed to partnering with organisations in the agricultural sector in the county to ensure farmers get the necessary services and inputs.
Today, the CECM for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives Hon. Leonard Bor visited and toured the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot in Nakuru Town West Sub-county to discuss possible areas of collaboration, especially on areas of distribution of fertilizer subsidies to the farmers.
Hon. Bor highlighted that the administration led by H.E Governor Susan Kihika is working to ensure that farmers have easy access to subsidized fertilizer by ensuring reduced logistics costs.
The County will partner with NCPB to ensure that access to fertilizer by having Kiptororo, Kamara, Mwireri and Mauka warehouses used as depots during the distribution of the fertilizer.
The efforts will help complement the existing depots in the county including Olenguruone, Elburgon, Naivasha, Subukia, Solai, and Nakuru depots.
Hon. Bor appreciated the technology and innovation being employed in the facility highlighting that it has helped in improved handling of cereals and quick delivery of services.
The CECM was received by Ag. Regional Manager Anthony Tanui.
