Random acts of kindness go a long way in reinventing humanity and restoring dignity to affected people.
The County Government of Nakuru has this afternoon extended support to victims of the fire tragedy that ravaged homes at Hilton in London Ward early this week. During the fire incident, two lives were lost, and homes and property worth hundreds of thousands were destroyed.
Led by Chief Officer for Resource Mobilisation Pastor Alex Maina and his Disaster management counterpart Madam Joyce Ncece the team presented the victims of the inferno with mattresses and blankets as well as assorted foodstuffs that were donated by Governor Susan Kihika.
Madam Ncece appealed to residents to ensure they put out fires that might result in a similar tragedy that was witnessed this week.
Pastor Alex promised the residents of the informal settlement that plans were at an advanced stage to see to it that a long-term solution for those residing in the area is found.
‘We have constituted a committee that will come up with a permanent solution that will hopefully allow us to get better places to call home and we shall also request the national government to consider extending the affordable housing project to this area,” said Pastor Alex.
The area MCA Bernard Maina Gatuso took time to express his gratitude to the governor for the help extended asking locals to be more vigilant and careful especially now that there is an increase in heat waves.
The victims of the fire thanked Her Excellency Governor Susan Kihika for her support during this difficult period.
Others present were representatives from the governor’s political office, well-wishers and the clergy.
