
County to support WRC and Love Festival happening later in the year

Nakuru County has committed to supporting the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally scheduled for June 22 to 25, in Naivasha, as it plans to showcase the county’s rich heritage to the world once more.
The upcoming spectacle will mark the seventh round in the WRC calendar released by the Federation Internationale de ‘I Automobile (FIA) World Motor Sport Council.
Trade, Tourism and Cooperatives CECM Stephen Kuria said the event will position the county as a tourism destination, noting that Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika is committed to ensuring the success of the event.
“The county government is fully behind this event, which will not only sell various tourism destinations areas but also promote tourism stakeholders,” said Kuria.
He also revealed that besides the WRC the county is set to host the Love Festival in September in Naivasha revealing that the hospitality industry stakeholders are leveraging on the event, which will attract thousands of international and local visitors to boost the industry.
Echoing similar sentiments, Tourism Chief Officer Rosemary Kimani revealed that the Love Festival will have a long-lasting effect and can even be a catalyst for the start of a booming travel and tourism industry.
Kuria at the same time assured Nakuru residents that the county is committed to supporting WRC and they are ready to work with the stakeholders to ensure a world-class event.
The two were speaking during a stakeholder’s meeting ahead of the preparation of the two upcoming events.
