Written by Ruth Magak
Nakuru County stands proud as a hub for international healthcare learning—a place where success is not just measured locally but resonates globally.
Today, we were honoured to host a delegation from Mukono Municipality, Uganda, eager to learn the core of the County’s best practices in healthcare management.
Led by the County Executive Committee Member for Health, Roselyn Mungai, the visiting team engaged in an exclusive learning session with the County health management team.
This exchange uncovered the secret nuggets behind Nakuru’s robust performance management and the pivotal role of political goodwill in propelling healthcare success.
The spotlight was on Nakuru’s distinctive Facility Improvement Fund Model, an innovative approach to healthcare advancement.
“Our commitment to performance excellence, is backed by political goodwill, H.E. Governor Susan Kihika has a driving force behind the county’s healthcare achievements,” said Roselyn.
A focal point of interest for the visiting team was Nakuru’s strides in Reproductive Health. The integrated services offered at the County Referral and Teaching Hospital’s Mother and Baby Wing have become a global model of excellence. The visiting team expressed particular fascination with the seamless integration and holistic care provided in this healthcare domain.
Central to Nakuru’s success is the collaborative partnership with The Challenge Initiative, a program funded by Jhpiego. This collaboration has not only highlighted local best practices but has also transformed Nakuru into an international destination for learning and replicating successful healthcare models.
The exchange of knowledge and experiences with international counterparts reaffirms Nakuru’s dedication to advancing healthcare not only for its residents but also for communities beyond its borders.
The global spotlight on Nakuru is not just a recognition of achievements; it is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to the vision of ‘A Healthy County” and healthy communities worldwide.
As Nakuru County continues to attract international attention, the exchange of ideas becomes a two-way street. We learn from our global peers while showcasing our best practices, creating a collaborative ecosystem that transcends geographical boundaries.
