Renewed Hope for Maai-Mahiu Hospital: Governor Susan Kihika’s Intervention

In response to the long-standing concerns raised by the residents regarding the construction delays of Maai-Mahiu Hospital, Governor Susan Kihika took decisive action by dispatching a multidisciplinary team to conduct a thorough inspection of the site.
Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. John Murima, accompanied by the project manager from Public Works, the team documented the progress and and state of the previous works comprehensively.
This report is set to provide Governor Kihika with insights to guide the closure of the existing contract and ensure swift progress moving forward.
During the assessment, the team identified priority works necessary for the operationalization of the hospital, with particular emphasis placed on those that would expedite its opening to serve the community’s healthcare needs.
Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing Maai-Mahiu Hospital has instilled renewed hope among residents.
With the allocation of 44 Million towards completing the remaining works within the current financial year, there is palpable optimism for the project’s successful completion and the subsequent delivery of healthcare services to the community.
Dr. Murima reaffirmed the Department of Health’s dedication to expediting the process by swiftly advertising the tender and commencing works as early as February.
Hon. Eliud Chege, the area Member of County Assembly commended the Governor’s efforts in reviving this project.
He lauded the Governor for restoring hope and momentum towards the realization of the Maai-Mahiu Hospital.
Additionally, he commended the contractor for maintaining site security during the project’s hiatus, ensuring the preservation of valuable resources and infrastructure.
Also Present was the County Director for Medical Services Dr Daniel Wainaina , County Health Infrastructure Coordinator, Gerald Maina and the area ward Administrator, David Kimani.
