New Era at Naivasha Sub-county Hospital
Written by Ruth Magak
The Department of Health is ramping up efforts to fully operationalize the new outpatient block at the Naivasha Sub-county Hospital to progressively resolve the persistent infrastructure and maintenance challenges plaguing the hospital.
County Executive Committee Member for Health, Roselyn Mungai visited the Hospital today for a supportive visit to various areas of the facility including the maternity, pediatric unit, wards, laboratory, and pharmacy units. She also toured various service points where she interacted with both staff and patients.
Naivasha Sub-county Hospital serves approximately 700 outpatients daily serving as a lifeline for the community. As efforts intensify to fully operationalize the new Outpatient block, the hospital is doubling down on its commitment to delivering optimal functionality and service delivery.
During the visit, the CECM keenly assessed the efficiency of services, ensuring that every aspect of patient care was scrutinized with care and attention to detail.
Roselyn recognized the pressing staffing gaps, underlining the urgency for action. She said that with the ongoing Human Resource for Health (HRH) analysis, the needs of this high-volume Level 4 hospital will be thoroughly examined and addressed to ensure optimal functionality.
The new outpatient block is already in use providing specialized clinical services. Roselyn confirmed that modalities for installing a standby generator, in collaboration with PGH, are at an advanced stage.
“This will facilitate the relocation of critical services like the laboratory and immunization, ensuring seamless operations even during power outages,” she said.
The purpose of her visit is to collect firsthand feedback from the ground by engaging directly with staff and patients for service improvement decisions both administratively and at the County level.
By soliciting feedback from staff and patients, Roselyn has bridged the gap between administrative decisions and ground realities, laying the foundation for strategic service improvement initiatives.
Naivasha Sub County Hospital is poised to redefine healthcare provision in the region through collaborative efforts and strategic planning.
The Department of Health Services is actively working to ensure that hospitals are not just functional but compassionate and responsive to the needs of the community.
