Written by Nabwire Naholi

Nakuru City’s technical team, led by City Manager Mr Gitau Thabanja, has gathered valuable insights from residents on completing key infrastructure and road projects. This engagement highlighted the positive impact of these developments and provided a platform for recommendations.

During the assessment, residents expressed satisfaction with the enhanced road connectivity, comfortable walkways, and improved security. Roads such as Free Area Loop Road and Mashindano Road in Nakuru East have facilitated smoother traffic flow and better access to business premises, thus boosting economic growth.

The assessment also noted an improved quality of life with reduced congestion with the upgraded roads facilitating enhanced safety for both pedestrians and motorists.

Residents suggested further improvements, including more pedestrian crossings, better drainage systems to manage flooding and the inclusion of cycling lanes to promote sustainable transportation. The City is committed to incorporating these recommendations into future projects.

Speaking during the exercise, City Manager Mr. Gitau Thabanja emphasized the importance of resident feedback in guiding future developments. He acknowledged the insights provided by residents, which will be crucial in shaping future infrastructure projects.

“By actively considering the residents’ feedback, Nakuru City aims to ensure that its infrastructure continues to meet the evolving needs of its population” Remarked Thabanja

Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Susan Kihika, the city’s commitment to continuous improvement remains steadfast with a focus on sustainable development, community engagement and innovative solutions.
