Residents of Arash and Munanda Areas in Subukia Ward to Benefit from New Water Source

By Samuel Gatimu

Residents of Arash, Edgewood, Gitwamba, Molo Hills, and Munanda in Subukia Ward can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the commencement of a water drilling project in the area.

The initiative, spearheaded by the County Government of Nakuru, is expected to provide a direct and reliable water supply to more than 3,000 residents. This development will bring to an end the water challenges that the community has endured for over a decade.

Notably, the borehole is among the first to be drilled using the county’s newly acquired modern rig, a milestone in efforts to tackle water scarcity in rural areas.

Speaking during the groundbreaking exercise, Chief Officer for Water and Sanitation, Eng. Margaret Kinyanjui, highlighted the benefits of the new equipment. She noted that the county-owned rig will cut operational costs, speed up drilling processes, and expand access to safe water and improved sanitation services across Nakuru.

Residents, led by Mr. Daniel Mureithi, lauded the County Government for reviving the project that had stalled since 2006. They emphasized that once completed, the borehole will support local economic activities and boost agricultural productivity.

The project reflects Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to ensuring all residents have access to safe and sufficient water.

In attendance at the launch were Subukia Ward MCA Hon. Isabella Makori, Sub-County Water Officer Eng. John Mwangi, Administrator Reuben Anyango, and members of the Project Management Committee.
