Afraha Stadium’s Transformation Nears Completion

In a promising move to bolster the sporting landscape, a team of engineers from Sports Kenya and Athletics Kenya (AK) joined the City Management to inspect the ongoing refurbishment of Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium. This collaborative effort is set to transform the stadium into a cutting-edge facility that meets international standards.

The inspection focused on ensuring that the renovation work adhered to the highest quality standards, particularly regarding the stadium’s structural integrity, to provide a safe and secure environment for athletes and spectators. The project aims to provide athletes with top-notch facilities to enhance their performance and inspire future generations to pursue sports.

The City Board commended the joint efforts of Sports Kenya and Athletics Kenya, recognizing their dedication to improving sports infrastructure in the region. City Manager Gitau Thabanja highlighted the significance of these collective efforts, which demonstrate a commitment to nurturing sporting talents and creating opportunities for athletes to excel.

He also reaffirmed Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to promoting sports tourism. The inspection team expressed their satisfaction with the progress made thus far. Once completed, the refurbished Afraha Stadium is expected to become a hub for sports enthusiasts, attracting athletes and spectators from across the country. The upgraded facilities, including improved seating arrangements, modern changing rooms, and upgraded lighting, will undoubtedly enhance the overall experience for both athletes and fans.
