SPEECH – Governor Mbugua Launches Nakuru’s 1st Chromatography Machine

DSC_6689
Ladies and gentlemen,

First and foremost I would like to take this opportunity to commend your company for taking this initiative to set up an ultra-modern laboratory that has a chromatography machine that is used in analytical, quality control, identification and quantification of compounds in research, industrial and forensic.

This is indeed a bold step to ensure that consumers of alcoholic beverages are free from any harm that may be caused by poisonous substances like methanol.

It’s unfortunate that many lives including young persons have been lost as a result of consuming poisonous liquor due to ignorance and lack of proper knowledge and unethical work of some inhuman and unpatriotic greedy manufacturers.

Ladies and gentlemen,

To forestall such calamities in future, I urge all those involved in the alcohol manufacturing to adhere to the laid out regulations and ethics as stipulated by the regulatory agencies by complying with the law.

Since liquor business is a devolved function, my government will continue to collaborate with other state agencies, the provincial administration and wananchi through the Nyumba Kumi initiative to curb any production and sale of illicit brews.

With the proper safeguards, liquor business like any other commercial enterprise generates employment and wealth, therefore I appeal to everyone to ensure that they consume legally authorized brews to avoid unnecessary calamities.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I call upon the security agencies and other stakeholders in the industry to remain vigilant by keeping in check counterfeit and illicit brews to avoid any further loss of life or suffering to the consumers.

Finally I call upon Nakuru County residents to live in harmony, shun tribalism for the sake of peace and development.
