County to create over 100,000 digital jobs by 2025 for the Youth

Nakuru County under the leadership of H.E Governor Susan Kihika is committed to creating over 100,000 digital jobs by 2025 in a program christened Silicone Rift.

This initiative will leverage the Digital Economy which is growing faster than the physical economy and offer great opportunities for young people.

Over 150 students have already enrolled to pilot the project which is going to be implemented by the county in collaboration with international partners

This was revealed by Chief Officer for Sports Alex Maina when he led a sports equipment distribution exercise at the Molo Social Hall, Molo Sub-county.

This is in efforts geared towards supporting sporting activities in Nakuru County and empowering the Youth at the grassroots level.

The four wards of Elburgon, Molo, Sachangwan, Turi, and Mariashoni in Molo Sub-county have received a boost to their sports participation with a range of equipment including uniforms, balls, darts, nets with wire, tracksuits, pumps, first aid kits and stopwatches.

“Sports have become a major source of income to many, I encourage you to take sports seriously for not only does it offer economic benefits, but it’s also a way to stay healthy in body and mind,” the Chief Officer said.

Mr Maina further conveyed the unwavering commitment of Nakuru County under the leadership of H.E Susan Kihika in supporting grassroots sporting activities, including the upcoming Governor’s Cup.

Area MCA Hon. Ngware Ng’ang’a lauded H.E Governor Susan Kihika for uplifting the sports in the county and implored the Chief Officer to look into the issue of Molo Stadium to help sportsmen and women use the facility for sports.

On his part Hon. John Mwangi said that the youth from Molo Sub-county will fully be engaged through sports and will assist in combating vices such as drug abuse and crime.

Those who benefitted from the sports equipment have thanked Governor Kihika and the area MCAs for their efforts in making sports activities in Molo vibrant and prioritizing the youth activities in the county.

Also in attendance were Hon Benard Langat (MCA Mariashoni Ward), Sports Officers, The Ward Administrators, FKF Representatives, and Governor Coordinators among others.
