Gilgil Municipality holds first meeting to deliberate on the Integrated Development Plan

To enhance the protection and promotion of sustainable development, Nakuru County Executive for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Hon John Kihagi graced a special meeting organized by the Gilgil Municipal Board through their chairperson Joseph Theuri.
The aim of the meeting was to capacity build and enhance the effectiveness of municipal board members through deliberations on the Draft Integrated Development Plan (IDeP) that captures key flagship projects that the Board intends to implement in the financial year 2024/2025.
The board members were taken through a rigorous knowledge and skills exchange on budgeting, financial management, public participation, and stakeholder engagement in line with UACA, Sustainable Development Goals, Kenya Vision 2030, Constitution of Kenya among others.
In his address, Mr. Kihagi took the moment to thank H.E Governor Susan Kihika for supporting the elevation of Gilgil to a municipality. This, he noted, will see Gilgil benefit from a series of development programs through the second phase of the World Bank-funded Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP) and Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP)
Kihagi noted that the agreed plan was a milestone in achieving the development agenda of H.E Governor Susan Kihika. Later, the plan will be forwarded to the County Executive Committee and the County Assembly for Adoption and Approval.
On his part, Chief Officer for Housing and Urban Development Kamau Kuria thanked the members for discharging their duties with the utmost integrity and for community engagements like the recent Zero Garbage Campaign which advocated for a cleaner environment and is part of Governor Susan Kihika’s 6-point Urban Agenda.
The Board chairman, Joseph Theuri reiterated the sentiments and pegged the assurance of the board members in carrying out its executive mandate in line with Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto and vision for Gilgil Sub-county.
Present in the meeting were the Director of Urban Development Willy Keter and Ag. Board Manager Benson Kipenju
