Governor Mbugua Initiates Development Dialogue with USA and Diaspora

WASHINGTON DC, USA 4th August 2014 – Governor Kinuthia Mbugua is in North Carolina, USA on a trade and investment mission where he will attend several meetings with potential investors and partners with a view to establish a working relationship between the host and Nakuru County.

The meetings which serve as an introductory dialogue between the state of North Carolina and Nakuru County, will be focusing on trade and educational investment opportunities including establishing a sister-state partnership.

During the one week visit, Governor Mbugua will attend a series of meetings with the state’s Governor Pat McCrory and top ranking officials from the Department of Commerce, State Capital, and North Carolina Central University where the delegation is scheduled for a roundtable discussion.

Accompanied by a strong delegation from the County Executive and the County Assembly, Governor Mbugua will then visit the North Carolina A&T State University where issues to be discussed will include facilitating a partnership between the university and a Nakuru County based university.

The Governor is also scheduled to attend the International Association of African Non-Governmental Organization (IAAN) Social Accountability Summit on 7th and 8th August in Washington DC where he will also meet Kenyans whom he will sensitize on the potential opportunities towards establishing a diaspora and Nakuru County partnerships and investments.

During the visit the delegation will also get a chance to visit various sites including local industries and technology firms.

Governor Mbugua’s delegation includes Nakuru’s First Lady Lucia Mbugua, Speaker of the County Assembly Susan Kihika, CeC in charge of Finance and Planning Francis Mathea, CeC in charge of Lands, Housing, and Physical Planning Rachel Maina, County Secretary Joseph Motari, Chief Officer Trade and Industrialization Edith Kimani, and Member of County Assembly for Viwandani Ward, Naivasha Eunice “Mama Soko” Wambui, County Economic Advisor Eng. David Muthoga.
