
Governor Susan Kihika outlines projects in Bahati

Nakuru County Governor H E Susan Kihika has reiterated her administration’s dedication to delivering essential projects in Bahati Sub-county, focusing on sectors such as land, ICT, education, health, roads, water, youth, and trade.
Speaking at the funeral of Henry Gachie, brother to Bahati MP Irene Njoki, held at PCEA Phyllis Muthoni Memorial Church Grounds in Bibirioni, Bahati, Governor Kihika outlined several key initiatives.
In Lands and Housing, the governor announced the start of a titling program to benefit around 400 residents in Bahati Trading Centre and another 800 in Dundori Trading Centre. Additionally, a Sh500 million Affordable Housing Project is set to deliver 220 housing units in Bahati Centre as part of its first phase.
On ICT and Education, plans include renewing the N-Computing license and enhancing internet access at Kagoto Digital Hub. Wanyororo Vocational Training Centre has also received Sh5 million for new equipment. Furthermore, Sh3 million per ward has been allocated for bursaries, and public ECDE centres in the county now serve 65,342 learners.
In the health sector, the county has introduced a Smart Primary Healthcare Network connecting health facilities to Bahati Level Four Hospital. A Sh5 million digital X-ray machine has been installed at Bahati Sub-county Hospital.
Other projects include the completion of Githiora Health Centre (Sh35 million), construction of Mugwathi Githiorio Dispensary (Sh20 million), and the ongoing Kiwamu Health Centre project (Sh20 million).
A Sh262 million maternity facility, in partnership with Kingdom Seekers Church, is 45 percent complete, and Sh3 million has been allocated to complete Bahati Sub-county Hospital’s mortuary.
Roads in Bahati Ward are being improved under the Imarisha Barabara Program, with Sh1 million spent on grading and murraming, and Sh5 million allocated to Dundori Ward, which includes installing culverts.
On water projects, Sh8 million has been allocated for Bahati’s water works, including the drilling of the King David borehole and piping projects in Kamiruri and Gatundura.
She added that Dundori has been allocated Sh6.3 million for water projects, and Sh5 million has been designated for equipping and piping Thayu borehole. Other initiatives include solarizing the Lamnyondeki water project (Sh2 million) and supplying pipes for Kiamaina and Gituamba (Sh2.4 million).
To support youth and women, governor Kihika said Sh2 million has been allocated for empowerment equipment in Bahati Ward, and Sh900,000 has been set aside for two boda boda sheds.
In trade development, Kihika said Bahati will benefit from modern markets being constructed at Kabatini and Dundori Centres under the Economic Stimulus Programme. Additionally, market shades will be built at Bahati Centre to support local traders.
Governor Kihika’s plans highlight the county’s commitment to advancing various sectors in Bahati Sub-county. She was joined by MPs Oscar Sudi, Sabina Chege, Kanini Kega, Rahab Mukami, Ann Muratha, First Gentleman Sam Mburu, James Wamacukuru, Kururia Elijah, Joseph Mbugua, Betty Maina, Alice Ng’ang’a among others.
