Written by Ruth Magak
Governor Susan Kihika today made an inspection tour of two major development projects in Subukia Sub County: the construction of the Subukia Level 4 Hospital and the development of an ultra-modern market.
These transformative projects aim to enhance healthcare accessibility and boost the local economy, aligning with the county’s vision of improving the quality of life for Subukia residents.
This modern Level Four Hospital, now 90 percent complete construction project costed Kshs 120 million investment aimed at delivering essential health services closer to home for the residents of Subukia and neighboring communities.
Set to be fully operational in the first quarter of next year, Subukia Level 4 Hospital is poised to transform healthcare access for thousands of residents in the region.
The new hospital will serve as a one-stop health facility, fully equipped with an Accident and Emergency (A&E) section, maternity services, an X-ray unit, two theatres, and a newborn care unit. Governor Kihika emphasized the importance of these additions, noting that Subukia Level 4 Hospital will improve health outcomes in the area, especially by enhancing emergency care, maternity, and pediatric services.
“The completion of Subukia Level 4 Hospital will reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for essential health services,” Governor Kihika remarked. “Our vision is for every resident to have access to quality healthcare within their community, making services more accessible and timely for all.”
With the inclusion of the A&E section and specialized units, the hospital will not only cater to general medical needs but also provide critical care services, thus reducing the pressure on larger referral facilities. The newborn care unit, in particular, is a key addition to the hospital’s maternity services, addressing the needs of newborns and ensuring that mothers receive comprehensive care before, during, and after delivery.
During her visit, Governor Kihika also highlighted that the Subukia Level 4 Hospital project is part of a broader effort to upgrade health facilities across Nakuru County. In addition to this hospital, other sub-county facilities are undergoing development to improve their capacity and provide specialized services. “This hospital is one of many we are investing in to bring high-quality healthcare to every corner of Nakuru County,” she shared, underscoring the administration’s commitment to a decentralized and inclusive healthcare system.
In addition to the healthcare infrastructure developments, Governor Kihika’s visit included discussions with local leaders and residents about the broader impact of the project on the Subukia community. Many residents expressed gratitude for the ongoing efforts, noting that the hospital has been long-awaited and will be a much-needed addition to the township. Governor Kihika encouraged the community to support the project and continue advocating for health improvements in their area.
Accompanied by Deputy Governor H.E. David Kones, Subukia MP Samuel Gachobe, and Area MCA Isabella Makori, Governor Kihika’s inspection tour highlighted the county’s collaborative approach to development. The leadership team’s unified support for Subukia Level 4 Hospital reflects the administration’s focus on inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
