Keringet Sports Academy to nurture talents and spur economic growth

Nakuru County Government is striving to ensure the construction of the Keringet Sports Academy is completed between the financial years 2024-2027. This will give the youth a chance to nurture their talents at the state-of-art sports facility. This aligns with Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto on developing and growing sporting talent across the county.

The Chief Officer for Youth, Talents, Sports, and Vocational training, Madam Stella Mwaura said that the high altitude training centre is among the flagship projects listed in the County Integrated Development Plan for the financial years 2024-2027 and will help nurture talents in the area and beyond. She was speaking during the site visit at the sports Academy alongside county officials and consultants.

“The completion of the academy will be important in growing local talents and attracting international athletes to train in the facility and boost the county revenue from the user charge thus growing the local economy. The facility will also provide economic growth to locals, Nakuru County and create job opportunities for the youth,” she reiterated.

The ongoing phase one construction works include the construction of an 8-lane running track, standard pitch for field events, generator house, ancillary facilities, borehole drilling and equipping, and frontage perimeter wall, among other facilities.
