Following the recent reshuffle of County Chief Officers by H.E. Governor Susan Kihika, the outgoing County Chief Officer for Agriculture, Mr Newton Mwaura, officially handed over the docket to the incoming officer, Margaret Kinyanjui, who previously served in the Department of Water.

During the handover, Mr Mwaura briefed Eng. Kinyanjui on the ongoing initiatives, development projects, and key programs being undertaken by the Agriculture Department. He assured her of his full support and commended the entire team for their exemplary teamwork and dedication to delivering outstanding service.

The department has been implementing various initiatives, including the promotion of avocado and pyrethrum, the edible oil promotion program, plant health services through plant clinics, and strengthening collaboration with agricultural stakeholders through CASSCOM, among others.

Eng. Kinyanjui pledged to build on her predecessor’s successes while steering the department toward the realisation of flagship projects designed to benefit farmers across Nakuru County.

She further emphasised her commitment to championing youth involvement in agricultural value chains since agriculture holds immense opportunities.

“I thank H.E. Governor Susan Kihika for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Nakuru. With the support of the staff, I am determined to propel the sub-sector to greater heights,” said Eng. Kinyanjui.

County Executive for Agriculture, Mr Leonard Bor, appreciated the contributions of the outgoing Chief Officer and welcomed the incoming one, noting that the department is advancing key projects, programs, and legal frameworks to actualise Governor Kihika’s manifesto.

Also present during the handover were the Chief Officer for Livestock, Fisheries and Veterinary Services, Dr Michael Cheruiyot, alongside departmental section heads who witnessed the transition.
