Mwenge A FC and Shabab Ladies Crowned Champions at CFK Africa Peace and Development Tournament

Mwenge A FC (Men) and Shabab Ladies were crowned champions of the CFK AFRIKA Peace and Development Tournament today at the Muslim Primary Grounds. Mwenge A FC secured victory by defeating Mwenge B FC 3-1, while Shabab Ladies triumphed over Flamicity FC 1-0, earning them the top positions in the Under-21 category.
In the Under-17 category, Nakuru United Men and Shabab Ladies were also declared champions after a series of competitive matches. The tournament featured over two hundred teams from slum areas across Nakuru Town West and East Sub-Counties, with a focus on eradicating poverty, combating drug abuse, reducing crime and fostering talent at the grassroots level. The CFK AFRIKA awarded the teams with training cones, footballs, football jerseys, books and trophies to the winners.
Keith Obiero, Program Lead for CFK AFRIKA-Youth and Education and Maureen Onyango, Communications Lead at CFK AFRIKA, expressed their gratitude to H.E. Governor Susan Kihika for her unwavering support of youth initiatives in the county. They emphasized the importance of collaboration to enhance future programs aimed at addressing issues such as drug abuse, early pregnancies, school dropouts and crime among the youth.
Josephine Atieno, County Executive Committee Member for Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services, praised the tournament organizers for their dedication to empowering young people, nurturing talent and promoting peace at the grassroots level—an agenda aligned with Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto. She commended the youth for their discipline and commitment throughout the tournament and congratulated all the champions.
The tournament had gone for two months managed by CFK Africa and local leadership from both Subcounties.
In addition, the CECM encouraged young players to be focused on their studies as well as on talent enabling them to secure a bright future.
In attendance were sports officers, led by Caroline Nulu (Nakuru Town West) and Everline Onsongo (Njoro), along with coaches, referees and other stakeholders.
