Various stakeholders today held the culmination of this year’s 16 days of activism against Gender-based violence (GBV) in Bahati Sub County which was themed ” Unite, activism to end violence against men, women, boys and girls.”

Nakuru County through the directorate of Gender, have put in place programs geared towards prevention and response to GBV including Community sensitization forums, mentorship programs for adolescents on Triple Threat (HIV, GBV and Teenage pregnancies), and capacity-building of GBV rescue shelters.

The Directorate has also established GBV technical working groups from the County level and cascaded them down to all the eleven sub-counties, comprised of State and non-state actors in the field of GBV prevention and response.

Ag. Chief Officer in charge of Gender Alice Gekonde urged the community on the need to support the efforts of the fight against Gender-Based Violence in the county.

She further appreciated the stakeholders who have supported the fight against GBV highlighting that adopting a multi-sectoral approach in training communities to change behaviour and norms that perpetuate gender Based Violence has been very significant in the county.
