Nakuru City Finalizes Five-Year Strategic Plan, Prepares for Key Development Projects

The City Management has concluded its four-day workshop on reviewing and finalizing its five-year Strategic Plan, which aims to guide growth and development from 2023 to 2027, ensuring a sustainable future. The workshop allowed key stakeholders to refine strategies and objectives for the next five years.
During the workshop, the team also embarked on preparations for the City Integrated Development Plan (IDeP), outlining critical chapters. The IDeP serves as a roadmap, detailing projects, timelines, and resources needed to achieve the city’s goals, ensuring alignment and accountability.
Speaking at the meeting, City Manager Mr. Gitau Thabanja emphasized the importance of these documents. He highlighted that the Strategic Plan and the IDeP are essential tools for effective governance and sustainable growth.
“These documents are aligned to H.E Governor Susan Kihika’s clear vision and structured approach for the city’s development” Remarked Thabanja
The team also assessed the city’s compliance with the KUSP II Minimum Conditions required for upcoming funding. They noted several unmet conditions and committed to expediting the necessary documentation as securing the funding will be crucial for key infrastructure and development projects.
Mr Thabanja stressed the importance of meeting the KUSP II Minimum Conditions to access the funds needed. He urged the team to prioritize completing the required documentation and work together to ensure compliance. The successful implementation of these plans will enhance residents’ quality of life and drive economic growth.
In addition to these efforts, the workshop facilitated productive discussions and deliberations among the city staff fostering a collaborative environment. This collaboration is crucial for addressing the city’s challenges and leveraging development opportunities.
