Nakuru City management inspects ongoing projects

The Chairperson of the Nakuru City Board Stella Karanja today led Members of the Board and the Management’s Technical unit to inspect all the projects currently under implementation in Nakuru Town East and Nakuru Town West constituencies.
The long-day visits were meant to enable Members of the Board to inspect the progress status of the ongoing projects in the City. The visits saw members note and appreciate the experiences and challenges contractors encounter during project implementation.
Some of the projects include the construction of Mashindano, Chui, Kipchoge, Kakamega and Bargain roads which are being constructed to bituminous standards alongside complementary facilities such as storm water drains, street lights and walkways in Nakuru Town East.
The Chair, Stella expressed satisfaction with the progress of road projects while she lauded the consultant present during the visits for expediting works since the onset of the projects noting that the roads will change the face of the City and serve as access roads once complete.
She however called upon the contractor to deliver quality work noting that sub-standard work would not be tolerated.
Her sentiments were echoed by Hon John Kihagi the CECM for Land, Housing, Urban Development and Physical Planning who was part of the inspection tour.
“H.E. Governor Kihika’s Administration has continued to make notable strides in implementing elaborate and continuous road connectivity to accommodate all road users and spur-up infrastructure development in the City,” remarked Hon Kihagi.
Other projects that were inspected include the construction of Free-Area Loop road, construction of Matundu and Crater Climb roads, the construction of Flamingo and Mbugua Mbugua road and drainage which were noted to have progressed after recently being handed over to the contractor.
The team equally inspected the refurbishment of Afraha stadium which is expected to be completed in June and the recently completed construction of a non-motorized transport facility along sections of Moi Road and Kenyatta Avenue, which has promoted a walking culture in the City.
Also joining the meeting was the City Manager Mr Gitau Thabanja and the Consultant Smooth Consult Limited.
