Nakuru County Deaf Football Teams Flagged off for 2024 National Deaf Football Selection Championship

Nakuru County Executive Committee Member for Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services, Josephine Atieno, flagged off the Nakuru County Deaf Football teams for both men and women this evening at the County Headquarters. The teams are set to compete in the 2024 National Deaf Football Selection Championship, which will take place in Machakos County.
The Nakuru teams will face off against teams from twelve other counties, with the competition organized into various pools. Coach Hassan Hussein lauded H.E Governor Susan Kihika for her unwavering support, noting her dedication to nurturing talent across all sports disciplines in the county.
Ms Atieno extended her best wishes to the teams, stressing the importance of maintaining discipline throughout the tournament. She expressed confidence in their ability to perform well and bring pride to the county.
Nakuru County Deaf team dubbed ” S. Rift Valley Deaf” will face off against Mt. Kenya Deaf team in their opening match at Mateco Grounds B in Machakos. The same pool B also contain Garissa Deaf.
“We have procured the hotel and paid the subscription fee to the team enabling them to participate in this year’s Competition,” CECM Atieno Said.
“We thank madam Governor H.E Susan Kihika for fully supporting us, especially with transport and running the affairs of the team is well taken care of by her administration,” Hassan said.
The event will culminate at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos as the Finals for Men and the other side women’s finals will play from the Machakos High Boy’s Ground. National Sportsmanship leadership will be in attendance.
Present were sports officers led by Nakuru Town West Sports Officer Caroline Nulu, players and coaches.
