The County Government of Nakuru organized a successful cooperatives sensitization and awareness meeting this morning at Kapkeet Centre in Tinet Ward, Kuresoi South Sub-County. The meeting aimed to educate residents on the importance of cooperatives and their crucial role in enhancing economic self-reliance through collective efforts.
Today’s meeting provided residents with a comprehensive understanding of cooperative programs and the significant impact they have in empowering local communities. Attendees were encouraged to join cooperative unions to improve their bargaining power for their produce and gain access to government support.
The commitment of Her Excellency Susan Kihika’s administration to adequately support cooperatives was reiterated during the meeting. Deliberate interventions have been put in place to connect cooperatives with development partners like the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP).
Present during the meeting included Mr. Richard Langat, a member of the Naivasha Municipal Board; Madam Veronica, the Area Chief; Mr. Bet, Assistant Chief; Weldon Kapkeet, Coordinator; and Jesca Lelgo.
Earlier in the day, a meeting was held with officials of Keringet KCSEED (KORTA) to discuss the revival of KCSEED Sacco. This meeting was attended by conglomerate members, highlighting Nakuru County’s commitment to strengthening cooperative movements across the region.
