In her speech, delivered on behalf of Governor Kihika, the CECM reiterated the county administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education, particularly focusing on the devolved functions of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and vocational training. Under the constitution, County Governments play a pivotal role in nurturing and developing Vocational Training Centers (VTCs).
Nakuru County continues to support Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions through initiatives such as providing bursaries, developing infrastructure, and enacting policies that foster their growth. The administration emphasizes public-private partnerships to address the evolving skills required in today’s industries.
Aligned with the Competency-Based Education Training curriculum (CBET), Nakuru County is actively participating in the nationwide transformation of TVETs. The implementation of the dual training policy, combining theoretical classroom instruction with practical workplace training, is a key focus.
Deputy Director of the State Department of TVETs, Zipporah Njoroge, representing the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Esther Muoria, affirmed the ministry’s commitment to CBET’s implementation across the country. She emphasized the dual training approach, highlighting its importance in aligning students with industry needs.
