Nakuru County Government Prioritizes Public Participation and Community Engagement for Smooth Service Delivery
Written by Leon Ruto
The Nakuru County Government is on a mission to strengthen the capacity of its Sub-county and Ward Administrators regarding public participation and community engagement. This move aims to enhance communication and linkages between the citizens and the government, ultimately paving the way for a more efficient and inclusive service delivery system.
Under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika, the Nakuru County Government has taken a bold step in creating a directorate specifically dedicated to Public Participation and Citizen Engagement. This Directorate is domiciled under the Department of Public Service Management and is a testament to the government’s commitment towards leading an inclusive and people-driven administration.
Recently, a 4-day training was organized for Sub-county administrators and Ward administrators from the 55 wards of Nakuru County. The county’s Deputy Governor, H.E David Kones, inaugurated the training session and reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering its administrators. He emphasized the crucial role that these administrators play as the bridge between the government and the people at the grassroots level.
The County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Management, Madam Jackline Osoro, believes that this training will go a long way in bridging the gap between the government and its citizens. She stated, “We are confident that with the right skills and tools, our administrators will be able to effectively engage the community and ensure that their needs are heard and addressed.”
Furthermore, the County Chief Officer for Public Participation and Citizen Engagement, Hon. Edward Gitau, expressed his enthusiasm for this initiative, “We are excited to see our administrators equipped with the necessary skills that will enhance citizen participation and engagement. We believe that this will lead to better decision-making and ultimately, improved service delivery.”
Joining H.E David Kones at the training were County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Public Service Management, Madam Jackline Osoro, and County Chief Officer for Public Participation and Citizen Engagement, Hon. Edward Gitau, Officers from Concern Worldwide among other county officials.
