Nakuru County Government to partner with Youth Enterprise Development Fund for Youth Empowerment

Nakuru County Government is set to partner with the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) to economically empower youth across the county.The collaboration will focus on lending, enterprise development, market support and linkages, commercial infrastructure and youth employment schemes abroad.
This was revealed during a meeting at the County’s Headquarters between the Chief Officer for Youth, Sports and Talent Pastor Alex Maina and YEDF officials led by Madam Lucy Nduati, the County Credit Officer.
Pastor Maina praised the YEDF team for their efforts and urged them to fast-track the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) process.This will enable the youth to benefit from upcoming programs designed to help them generate decent incomes and excel in their businesses in line with H.E Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto to the young people of Nakuru.
Some of the loans offered by the YEDF team are as follows Stawi, Smart, Vuka , Agribizz , Talanta , LPO & LSO , Vijana Baharia and Financial Intermediaries.
Joshua Kariuki the Assistant Credit County Officer said the team has been able to sensitize and train over 710 youth across the county as from July 2023 upto date. The went through YEDF products, Group formation and dynamics, introductions to entrepreneurship and business plan, Book Keeping , Business management and Introduction to financing.
On commercial infrastructure, the team is able to announce that they have distributed 150 modern Stalls across the county as follows ;- Naivasha 40, Gilgil 20, Nakuru East 10, Rongai (Salgaa) 30, Molo 30 and Njoro 20.
The Chief Officer is urging the youth of Nakuru to grab this opportunities to be empowered and live decent life.
