Nakuru County to benefit from 10,000 housing units through the Affordable Housing Program

The Affordable Housing Project, an initiative by the National Government, will provide 10,000 units of housing that will benefit residents of Nakuru County.
A total of 605 units in the Bondeni Affordable Housing Project, having already been completed and handed over to new owners. Additional phases are underway in Bahati and Molo (Elburgon), with plans to build 2,000 units in Naivasha and 3,000 units in Nakuru City.
This was as revealed on Sunday as Nakuru County Deputy Governor David Kones and County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara led Mashujaa Day celebrations at Keringet Estate Comprehensive Primary School in Keringet Ward.
Under this year’s theme “Affordable Housing” Deputy Governor Kones who represented Governor Susan Kihika at the event, highlighted the county’s commitment to providing affordable housing for its residents.
This project is part of the national and County government efforts, that aims to expand access to quality, affordable housing for low-income residents.
“In Nakuru County, we have fully bought into this Agenda of expanding access to quality, spacious, clean, safe and secure dwelling places at affordable cost to low income cadres,” the Deputy Governor noted.
“Beyond the housing units, the project has also stimulated the local construction industry, particularly the Jua Kali sector, consequently leading to increased employment opportunities for youth and the development of a more competitive construction market.”
The Deputy Governor further highlighted projects being undertaken by the County Government across the County that will benefit the local residents.
These initiatives span multiple sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure development, water provision, environmental conservation, healthcare, trade, and education. By addressing these critical areas, the county government is aims to create a more sustainable and prosperous future Nakuru residents.
On his part County Commissioner Loyford Kibaara urged Nakuru residents to maintain peace and to support Government’s development agenda.
Additionally, Mr Kibaara also issued a stern warning against criminal activities, such as drug abuse and defilement that has been rampant in the area, emphasizing the government stance against such offenses.
