
Nakuru County to partner with A-STEP for sports development

Nakuru County Government is set to partner with the Africa Sports and Talents Program (A-STEP) organization for sports-related activities in Nakuru County such as football training and academies, tournaments and exchange programmes.
Chief Officer for Youth, Sports and Talent Pastor Alex Maina engaged this evening with a team from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences hosted by A-STEP. The delegation was led by their leaders Hassan Hussein and Timothy Lusala at the County’s Directorate of Youth Affairs Offices.
Mr. Lusala and Mr. Hussein expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome from the Chief Officer and pledged to collaborate closely with the county leadership to secure the future of the youth in Nakuru County, regardless of the circumstances.
Pastor Maina commended the team for their dedication and efforts in nurturing talents from the grassroots level, particularly in Mumias Village, Kakamega County. He looks forward to fruitful discussions in the future, enabling the youth of Nakuru County to benefit from this excellent initiative.
The team were taken through the Nakuru County Empowerment Center where they appreciated the work prowess at the textile hub where they were embraced by how the young mothers are determined to make clothes and saw well using the modern machines at the center.
They were also taken through the music hub and podcast where musicians have recorded music across various genres.
Mr Josephat Kimemia the Director of Youth Affairs welcomed the team at the centre and urged them to promote the centre especially the textile industry by placing orders for uniforms and sports kits.
The students’ council pledged to support the initiative fronted to them whether they are present or in their absence to enable the untapped talent to be exposed.
Mr Hussein once again urged the team to consider Nakuru County as their best home before Mumias Village in Kakamega County to enable them to get to know the tourist attractions in the area and enjoy nature.
Later, the guests were entertained by the Whizzard Dance Group in Bondeni.
