
Nakuru County’s 3 Billion pact for progress in Healthcare

H.E Excellency Governor Susan Kihika has today announced a monumental step forward in the pursuit of delivering quality, affordable, and timely healthcare to the people of Nakuru. Emphasizing her government’s commitment to the health sector, Governor Kihika expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that have shaped this transformative journey.
The Governor highlighted the county’s dedication by allocating 40% of the budget to the health sector. This financial commitment is reinforced by strategic partnerships with development organizations, with a recent milestone being the signing of a 3 billion agreement with Standard Medical Group. This partnership aims to upgrade facilities and services at the Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital (NTRH) under the Health Transformation Program, Dab Health Net.
Susan Kihika outlined the key aspects of the agreement, which include the procurement, supply, and installation of cutting-edge medical equipment, digital healthcare transformation, and continuous human capital development. The agreement, signed with Standard Medical Group, will bring advanced technology to Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital (NTRH), ensuring the hospital’s capability to deliver first-class and affordable healthcare.
The Governor’s commitment extends beyond infrastructure improvements. She emphasized the importance of the human element in healthcare, acknowledging the recent kitting and deployment of over 3,190 community health promoters under the program named Daktari Mashinani. This initiative forms the foundation of a comprehensive primary healthcare network, connecting public health facilities across all sub-counties through digitization.
Addressing the partnership, Governor Kihika praised the Standard Medical Group for their collaboration in upgrading health infrastructure, service delivery systems, and skills development for the health workforce. She assured the public of Nakuru County’s cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the program for the benefit of its residents.
