
Nakuru hosts World Baseball and Softball Confederation – Africa World cup qualifier games

Nakuru County is proud to host the World Baseball and Softball Confederation Africa qualifier for the World Cup games in Gilgil Stadium from 24th to 27 January 2023.
The qualifiers have brought together under-12 and under-18 teams drawn from 5 countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
County CECM in charge of Sports Ms Josephine Achieng during the opening ceremony welcomed the visiting teams and highlighted that Nakuru hosting the event will be very vital in the revival of the sport in the county.
She added that the administration under the leadership of H.E Governor Susan Kihika will ensure improved infrastructural capacity and will work with relevant stakeholders to train and nurture talents from the grassroots level to have more youth in the county participate in baseball and softball discipline, added the CECM.
Additionally, Ms Achieng wished all the participants the very best in the competition and a fruitful social interaction throughout the entire period of the games.
The games began with Kenya beating Tanzania 8-3 runs.
Also present were Sports Chief Officer Stella Mwaura, and Director Sports Alice Gekonde.
