
Plans Underway for the Nakuru City Board Cup Tournament

Nakuru City Board is set to organize quarterly football tournaments during school holidays, to nurture talents and promote the sport across the County. The inaugural event is scheduled for April 2024.
This was revealed during a meeting between the Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, Talent, and Resource Mobilization Pastor Alex Maina and the City Board leadership led by Stephen Muli, the Board Chairman.
The Chief Officer endorsed the idea and pledged the departments support. He further stressed the importance of involving necessary stakeholders such as the Federation of Kenya Football (FKF)
The City Manager Mr. Gitau Thabanja stated that the teams to participate for the tournament shall and must come from within the city jurisdictions. Teams will comprise both men and women participating in different disciplines. The wards are as follows: Barut East, Barut West, Biashara, Bondeni, Hospitali, Kaptembwo, Kivumbini, Lake View, Langa langa, Menengai, Nakuru East, Rhonda, Shabaab, Shauri Yako and Viwanda.
The aim of the tournament is to help nurture and showcase talents. It will also help to keep the youth occupied during the holiday hence help in a decline of crime rate and drug abuse.
