Written by Nancy Kihara
Residents of Mirera in Hellsgate Ward have expressed their gratitude to the County Government of Nakuru for the rehabilitation of Musaka Bridge which is set to commence soon. The bridge, which was damaged by recent heavy rains that swept away several culverts, serves as a link for the community.
The rehabilitation work is set to commence shortly, ensuring safe passage for both residents and vehicles, particularly the matatus from the Maruti Sacco that frequently use this busy stretch. This intervention aims to address the community’s pressing need for a safe and reliable crossing point while alleviating the disruption caused by the damage.
However, the county government has also outlined a long-term strategy that involves constructing a more bridge with a budget of Ksh 10 million, pending the initiation of the procurement process.
County Executive Member for Infrastructure, Engineer Michael Kamau, emphasized the importance of building a durable bridge that will withstand future challenges posed by extreme weather conditions. He stated, “We are committed to constructing a long-term solution that ensures the safety and convenience of our residents. The new bridge will be designed to endure and remain a steadfast link for the community.”
Engineer Kamau also reassured residents of the county’s broader commitment to improving infrastructure through the Imarisha Barabara program. This initiative has achieved positive feedback across Nakuru County, highlighting the government’s dedication to enhancing road networks and transportation facilities.
The Area Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Virginia Wamaitha extended her thanks to the Nakuru County Government, for their response in rehabilitating Musaka Bridge.
The rehabilitation of Musaka Bridge underscores the Nakuru County Government’s under the leadership of H.E Governor Susan Kihika ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and address the needs of its communities. As the county prepares for the construction of a new, permanent bridge, residents can look forward to enhanced safety and accessibility in the near future.
