He spoke when he presided over the Starehe Darts Cup at Shabab Ward, Nakuru Town West Sub-county where thirteen teams from Nakuru, Laikipia, Baringo and Nairobi Counties participated. The event was organized by Kenya Darts Association Council leadership, Nakuru County Branch.
Hon David Wathia (MCA-SHABAB), promised that through the ward allocation fund he would allocate funds to buy darts and other equipment for the youth in his ward.
The branch Chairperson Mr Peter Kariuki, pledged to collaborate with the county leadership to promote Darts competition in schools and churches , particularly targeting youth to address idleness and combat drug abuse.
Also at the event was Esther Karuga, the outgoing organizing secretary from Nakuru branch, spoke of the many sponsors willing to sponsor the darts teams and that the leadership should seize opportunities.
Engineer Simon Kariuki, the outgoing chairperson, lauded the current leadership on their partnership with the county’s leadership.
Rajab who is a resident at the ward said the leadership of darts should take full advantage of chief barazas and seminars to get more participants and sponsors.
Such events being in place there is a lot of engagement for the youth in the community hence a decline in the rate of crime rate.
