
Talanta Hela National under-19 Inter-County Football Tournament kicks off

The Talanta Hela National under-19 Inter-County Football Tournament was officially flagged off by the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Hon Ababu Namwamba, EGH at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi County.
Hon Ababu Namwamba shared his vision for the Talanta Hela Initiative, aiming to turn talent into a thriving industry in Sports and Creative Spaces.
Sixteen Counties both Girls and Boys teams are competing for the grand of Ksh. 5 Million. Nakuru County Represented by talented boys and girls, is ready to shine in Pool D alongside Uasin Gishu, Kiambu and Makueni.
The draw followed the successful conclusion of the inter-county playoffs in Nyeri which brought together the first runners-up from the regional finals vying for the available four national slots.
The Boy’s Pool A is made up of Garrisa, Kericho, Vihiga and Homa Bay. Pool B draws Nyeri, Baringo, Kisumu and Nyamira and Pool C has Mombasa, Marsabit, West Pokot and Kirinyaga.
The Girls’ Pool A will see Kakamega facing off Kwale, Busia and Nandi while Pool B Draws Wajir, West Pokot, Homa Bay and Kisii. Group C consists of Nyeri, Samburu, Kisumu and Nairobi.
At the end of the group stage games, two top teams from each pool will advance to the round of 16 with the preliminary matches set to be played at Kirigiti Stadium, Jamhuri Grounds, Kasarani Main Stadium and the grand finale set for Nyayo National Stadium on 12th where the winner will bag Ksh 5 Million.
The County Executive Committee Member for Youth Sports Gender and Social Services Josephine Atieno Achieng’ expressed her confidence in the Nakuru County team as she wished them the best of luck all through the competition.
Dr Doreen Odhiambo the CEO of Kenya Academy of Sports wished the participants a week full of enthusiasm and footballing.
Present were the team deployed to spearhead the championship, a set of County representatives, Sports Personalities, and the fourth estate among others.
