Partnership Between County Government and CARE International to Empower Community Groups

In collaboration with CARE International, the County Government engaged with 17 community groups in Barut-Nakuru Town West Sub-county, through an economic empowerment outreach program.

The meeting, attended by various stakeholders, discussed empowerment initiatives and proposed funding for local groups. Partners outlined structures to enhance economic well-being in the community.

Chief Officer for Gender, Social Services, and Inclusivity Gladys Kamuren, commended the collaborative efforts, expressing gratitude for the support in empowering the community groups. Kamuren pledged to collaborate closely with the groups, emphasizing the facilitation of learning programs.

Sarah Kerubo, the officer in charge of Fisheries in Nakuru Town West sub-county urged the community groups to embrace agri-business which is a vital source in the food production sector. She promised their department would work closely to bring educational activities to aid in empowerment.

The Livestock Officer in Barut Ward, Beatrice Wambeti spoke of the need to ensure all farmers get registered in recognized groups to help them get loans from SACCO’s and banks.

Present were representatives from the livestock, agriculture, fisheries, and public health departments, Anglican, NAWASSCO, SHOFCO, Urban Network, and the area Chief among others
