Banita Settlement Scheme Residents Finally Receive Title Deeds After Prolonged Wait.

The Banita Settlement Scheme will, from today, breathe a sigh of relief as residents from Soin Ward villages, including Kapsaga, Kongo Machine, Kiito, Kokwomoi, and Kimamoi A and B, among others, are set to receive their title deeds after a prolonged wait.
County officials, led by CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. John Kihagi, alongside Chief Officer Stella Mwaura, represented Her Excellency Governor Susan Kihika in accompanying Permanent Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning, Hon. Nixon Korir, to Banita Settlement in Soin Ward, Rongai Sub-county. The visit aimed to advance the settlement process for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the area.
During the gathering, committees were formed to represent each village. These committees will work with officers from both the National and County Governments to conduct verification and audits in Banita, ensuring a comprehensive approach to identifying public utilities such as schools, markets, and other essential amenities.
Residents expressed their gratitude to Governor Susan Kihika for her unwavering support in helping them secure title deeds. Permanent Secretary Nixon Korir assured the community that the benefits of this initiative will extend beyond Soin Ward, reaching residents across the county, including those in Maai Mahiu affected by floods and other areas with unresolved land issues.
This effort also includes lifting caveats on affected lands throughout Nakuru County, providing long-awaited security and relief to landowners and residents alike.
Hon. John Kihagi conveyed heartfelt thanks to Governor Susan Kihika for her steadfast commitment to addressing land issues in Nakuru County. He commended her leadership in resolving long-standing land disputes, enabling residents, including IDPs, to finally receive their title deeds. Kihagi noted that the collaboration between the National and County Governments has been instrumental in delivering these long-awaited solutions, bringing renewed hope and stability to communities in Soin Ward.
Accompanying them were the CECM for Water and Environment Dr. Nelson Maara, Chief Officer for ICT, E-Government, and Public Communication Catherine Changwony, Women’s Representative Liza Chelule, Members of Parliament Hon. Paul Chebor (Rongai) and Alfred Mutai (Kuresoi), County Commissioner, and MCAs led by Hon. Dagaulle Naburuki, among other leaders from the National and County governments.
