City Management Engages Residents On New Road Project

City Management has taken an inclusive approach to infrastructure development by engaging residents, motorists, and road users on the upcoming development of the missing link road behind the Carnation Hotel. This initiative aims to ensure that the voices of all stakeholders are heard and considered in the planning and execution of the project.
During the engagement, City Manager Mr. Gitau Thabanja noted the residents’ views and opinions on what should be prioritized during the road construction. The feedback gathered included concerns about providing street lights, stormwater drainage, accessibility, and the need for better traffic management to reduce congestion.
Residents emphasized the importance of incorporating pedestrian walkways to promote non-motorized transport. Motorists highlighted the necessity of improving road conditions while also suggesting the implementation of smart traffic lights to enhance traffic flow.
Mr. Thabanja assured the residents that their input would significantly influence the final road development plan. He emphasized H.E. Governor Susan Kihika’s dedication to creating a more inclusive, safe, and efficient urban transport network that caters to the diverse needs of its users.
MCA Biashara Ward Fadhili Musuli appreciated the residents for their valuable contributions and affirmed continued dialogue throughout the project’s implementation phase.
He stated that these engagements are crucial in promoting mark a participatory approach in urban development, ensuring that the city’s growth reflects the aspirations and needs of its residents.
The residents also expressed their gratitude for H.E. Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment and effort in prioritizing community involvement in infrastructure projects. They noted that the approach will yield more sustainable and user-friendly urban development, ultimately benefiting the entire community.
Also in attendance was Martin Gicinga from the Office of the Governor who noted that the administration values and respects citizens’ input in shaping the city’s future.
