
Clean up Exercise at Salgaa Town, Mosop Ward

Nakuru County’s Department of Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Natural Resources in partnership with Sacol Ventures limited, Ward Climate Change committees, Sycode Hygiene Services and World Vision held a clean-up in Salgaa town, Mosop ward Rongai subcounty.
The focus of the initiative was to raise awareness and sensitize communities about environmental protection, importance of proper waste management and disposal as well as promoting locally led initiatives that contribute to mitigating climate change effects.
CECM Dr Nelson Maara encouraged the residents especially young people to continue conserving the environment. This initiative aligns with the Governor Susan Kihika’s agenda of establishing and implementing regular environmental clean-ups by residents across all sub-counties.
“This is incredible to witness the resident’s reflection on your responsibilities in preserving Nakuru’s natural beauty. We all share the common goal of restoring Nakuru to its former glory as the cleanest city in East and Central Africa. This clean-up exercise has brought together remarkable partners and enthusiastic members of the public, all dedicated to creating a cleaner and healthier environment” Dr Nelson Maara said .
Other participating team were, Ag.Director for Environment Grace Karanja, county Environment officers,Fairtrade organization, Simba cement Limited, NARUWASCO, Rotary, Kenya Red cross, public and private schools and the residents
