Written by Nancy Kihara
The County Executive Member for Infrastructure Eng Michael Kamau today inspected the ongoing construction of the Gwa-Karani Bridge in Waseges Ward in Subukia Sub-county.
The Kshs. 3.9 million bridge which is part of the Kenya Roads Board program entails the construction of a 5-meter wide bridge that connects residents of Kamumo and Mugumo village within Mihang’o.
For students commuting from Mihang’o Farm and surrounding areas to Kamumo Primary and Forest Hill Secondary Schools, this bridge is a promise of easier access to education as the students will no longer risk their safety to reach their classrooms.
“With just a month left until its completion, the bridge which is 70% complete will also be beneficial to many residents in the region who are farmers for efficient transportation of goods, increased access to markets, and ultimately improved livelihoods,” noted Eng Kamau.
Dorcas Irungu, a resident of the area thanked the Governor and the area MCA who advocated for the commencement of this project as their dedication and commitment have translated into tangible results that are being felt by the residents.
In his remarks, Eng Kamau also noted that access roads within the area will be opened through the Imarisha Barabara program with ongoing works currently being done at Kwa Haji area within the ward.
This is a commendable move by the County Government of Nakuru towards enhancing infrastructure and fostering community development with a significant promise to transform the lives of residents.
