Deputy Governor Kones graces Farming Systems Kenya Strategic Plan Launch

Nakuru County Deputy Governor Hon. David Kones has assured that the county will work with nongovernmental organizations dedicated to enhancing food security, promoting sustainable agriculture, and empowering farmers.
He revealed this during the launch of the Farming Systems Kenya Strategic Plan for the period 2024-2028 which will serve as a blueprint for empowering smallholder farmers and rural communities to enhance both agricultural and livestock productivity.
Hon. Kones added that the plan aligns perfectly with the County Integrated Development Plan on improving food security and nutrition noting the plan encompasses a wide range of initiatives aimed at transforming our agricultural landscape for the better.
He was accompanied by Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi who commended FSK for their environmental conservation efforts, and the provision of microcredit for women, youth, and men which has contributed to the socio-economic development in different counties.
He further appreciated the support extended to schools in promoting modern agricultural technologies in ensuring the transfer of knowledge and skills to future generations.
The partnership areas will include One Health, Food & Nutrition Security, Water Access, Hygiene & Sanitation, Climate Smart Agriculture, Climate change Action & Environmental Protection, Animal Welfare, Peacebuilding, Leadership & Governance, and Gender mainstreaming.
Also present were Agriculture CECM Leonard Bor, Risper Chepkong’a (Baringo), and Farming Systems Kenya CEO Dr Benson Kibore.
