The City technical team has identified several stormwater drainage systems in Kaptembwo Ward that require urgent upgrades.
The exercise which City Manager Mr Gitau Thabanja led, identified several drainage systems needing urgent improvement to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall in the area.
Mr Thabanja during his visit engaged the area residents listening to their concerns and grievances regarding the frequent flooding and damage caused by inadequate drainage systems.
The residents expressed frustrations over the recurring floods that have wreaked havoc on their properties, urging the city to prioritize solutions.
Mr Thabanja reassured the community of the City’s commitment to addressing these issues. He said a comprehensive geological survey will be conducted to understand the root causes of the flooding better and to inform the necessary infrastructure upgrades.
This is part of the City’s plan to implement long-term solutions designed to reduce the risks associated with heavy rainfall in Kaptembwo Ward.
By prioritizing the upgrade of stormwater drainage systems, the City aims to protect residents’ properties and enhance public safety, ensuring a more resilient urban environment.
These efforts are directly aligned with H.E. Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to improving infrastructure and living conditions for the residents of Nakuru.
Governor Kihika has consistently emphasized the need for robust infrastructure to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, making this initiative a key part of her administration’s broader strategy.
This initiative addresses immediate concerns and reflects the City’s ongoing dedication to tackling critical infrastructure challenges. It is part of a larger effort to improve Nakuru residents’ quality of life and create a safer more sustainable city.
