Written by Annette Njoroge
The Department of Lands and Physical Planning is conducting a week-long land verification exercise for various market centers from August 12th to 20th August 2024. The primary goal of this exercise is to provide title deeds to plot owners in these centers.
The market centers involved in this verification include:
1.Industrial Area, Viwandani Ward, Naivasha Sub County – 12th August 2024
2.Leleshwain Gilgil Ward, Gilgil Sub County – 14th August 2024.
3.Kampi Somali, Gilgil Ward, Gilgil Subcounty – 15th August.
4.Sitoita in Nyota Ward, Kuresoi Sub County-20th August 2024.
The verification process will involve technical officers substantiating documents and county surveyors verifying ground control points. These steps are crucial in preparing the necessary documents for submission to the Survey of Kenya and, ultimately, the National Lands Commission (NLC) for the titling process.
County Executive Committee Member, Hon. John Kihagi, highlighted the department’s previous successes in similar exercises at Dundori Market Centre and Bahati Market Centres in Bahati Sub County, as well as Block 14 Manyani in Nakuru East Sub County. Out of 31 centers scheduled for verification, these have already been successfully completed.
Hon. Kihagi emphasized the importance of this exercise in protecting beneficiaries from land grabbers and encroachments, while also promoting economic and social development in line with Governor Susan Kihika’s manifesto.
Chief Officer for Lands and Physical Planning, Ms. Stella Mwaura, urged beneficiaries to participate in large numbers and requested them to bring their ID, KRA PIN, allotment letters, and confirmation of grant documents for deceased beneficiaries (both copies and originals) to ensure a smooth process.
