
Nakuru County Government Gearing up for Hell’s Gate Biking Fest in August

The County Government of Nakuru in collaboration with Whistle Africa Tours and Events (WATE) is set to host the Hell’s Gate Biking Fest in Naivasha Sub-County on August 10th and 11th, 2024.
The event aims to foster unity among both cycling and non-cycling communities while championing environmental conservation efforts.
This initiative was unveiled during a meeting at the County Headquarters, led by Pastor Alex Maina, the Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, Talent and Resource Mobilization and Jeremiah Njanja (Founder of WATE) as they strategized for the upcoming event.
Pastor Alex Maina emphasized the county’s dedication to nurturing talents and advancing all sports disciplines across the county. He also reiterated Governor H.E Susan Kihika’s administration’s steadfast support for sports promotion.
Hell’s Gate Biking Fest is an annual event and the only cycling festival hosted within the national park in East and Central Africa. The event was officially inaugurated in August 2023.
Whistle Africa Tours and Events is a well-established Kenyan-based destination management company led by a competent team of professionals with collective industry experience, and are regulated by the Tourism Regulatory Authority of Kenya.
Hell’s Gate Biking Festival’s primary activities revolve around biking and are as follows;
Buffalo Race (MainRace);
Participants in this race ride around the park on a 25KM circuit for 2 laps making a total distance of 50+KMs.
Twiga Race;
This race consists of completing multiple laps around a 4–6 km circuit.
Fischer’s Tower Race;
This is a Hell’s Gate Biking Fest Signature Race that happens on a short course near the festival village, for multiple laps making it the most interesting race for the festival fans to watch.
Hell’s Gate Fun Ride;
This is a non-cyclist race featuring anyone who can ride including a mateur sand recreational riders.
Hell’s Gate Corporate Ride;
This is a team-based race designed for different corporates including our partners with a focus on amateur riders.
Dirt jumping;
Dirt jumping is the practice of riding bikes over jump sand and becoming airborne as you
perform tricks with the style.
We look forward to a month that shall be experienced with enthusiasm and excitement in Naivasha.
