Nakuru County Unites in Empowerment, Celebrating Women’s Achievements on International Women’s Day

The County Government of Nakuru joined residents of Keringet, Kuresoi in a vibrant celebration to honor the International Day of Women. The event filled with joy and empowerment, reflected on remarkable appreciation for women’s contributions and achievements.
Under the theme “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress,” this year’s gathering drew an impressive turnout of women, underscoring the significant strides they have made in empowerment and acknowledging the role they play in society.
Led by Chief Officer Gender Gladys Kamuren, the celebration echoed the sentiments of H.E Governor Susan Kihika, emphasizing the imperative of recognizing women’s achievements, championing gender equality, and fostering environments where women can flourish across all spheres of life.
The energy and active participation of women at the event underscored a collective commitment to empowerment and the importance of commemorating their successes.
Director in charge of Gender, Celine Nkatha highlighted a series of ongoing initiatives under the leadership of H.E Governor Susan Kihika aimed at empowering women in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Nkatha urged women to seize these opportunities and strive for advancement in their lives. She specifically encouraged those experiencing gender-based violence to speak out and seek assistance, emphasizing the importance of breaking the silence surrounding such issues.
The occasion served as a stark reminder of the ongoing journey towards gender parity, sparking hope and igniting further positive transformations not only within Nakuru County but also resonating beyond its borders.
Women from various backgrounds came together, sharing inspirational stories and reaffirming their dedication to advancing gender equality. Their resilience and strength were evident throughout the event, reflecting the profound impact women have in shaping communities and driving progress.
The event also welcomed distinguished guests, including representatives from the Office of First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto, Chief Officers overseeing various sectors such as ICT, Education, Public Communication, and Economic Planning, as well as local leadership figures including the Area MCA and Area Chief, among others.
Their presence demonstrated the collective commitment to supporting and amplifying the voices of women in Nakuru County and beyond.
