Introduction
The Department of Education, ICT, E-Government, and Public Communication is dedicated to fostering educational excellence, technological innovation, and transparent governance. It enhances digital access, promotes skill development, and facilitates public communication to ensure efficient service delivery and community engagement. Through strategic initiatives, the department empowers individuals and institutions, driving progress and inclusive development across all sectors
Mandate
- To provide holistic Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) by offering pre-primary education and facilities, building teacher capacity, coordinating curriculum and co-curricular activities, supporting child nutrition and health, integrating ICT, managing ECDE data, and ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
- To provide quality vocational and technical education through well-equipped training centres, skilled instructors, relevant and up-to-date curricula, sound policies and regulations, and robust monitoring and evaluation of training programmes.
- To promote digital literacy, enhance access to information, and drive efficient service delivery in Nakuru County through ICT policy development, expanded digital connectivity, and the implementation of e-government services.
- Promote and provide public communication services for all departments.

Directorate of Education and Vocational Training
The Directorate of Education and Vocational Training at the county level focuses on the provision of ECDE and Vocational Training services. The sector prioritizes access to quality Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) and Vocational Training.

The directorate priorities are in ICT infrastructure, e-Government services and Information & communication services. The subsector has also established seven digital centers to promote digital literacy, access to e-Government services and Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs). Public Communication and dissemination of public information as well as provision of Public Relations Services.
